Core Impact hires industry Software Veteran Neal Smith to strengthen the engineering department

Sacramento, California. – Neal is the Vice President of software engineering for Core Impact where he is responsible for software development strategy and execution for all products.  He is a senior technology leader with multiple patents and over 30 years of experience in the software industry.  He received his BS in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from New Mexico State University.  His experience prior to joining Core Impact includes time as a lead software engineer on Sky Fax which received 3 industry awards: 1.) 1995 AFA Best Fax Mailbox Service, 2.) Mobile Office’s 20 Most Important Products of the Year, 3.) BIS Computer Fax Conference’s Best Wireless Application for Mobile Professionals.  He also worked at BASIS International where he developed software tools such as language interpreters and resource compilers.  Most of Neal’s professional experience was at Intel Corporation where he spent over 23 years and moved into full-time technical leadership and engineering management roles.  There he co-authored multiple patents and he and his teams delivered various key components for products such as the award-winning Neural Compute Stick and Neural Compute Stick 2 artificial intelligence developer kits.  He also helped bring two healthcare devices to market within the Intel Digital Health Division (later bought out by GE Healthcare); the MCA tablet where he guided OEMs in their implementations of the device and the PHS 6000 for which he led the connectivity effort for all medical devices.  

Neal is married and living in Phoenix, AZ with his wife Maria where they enjoy biking and hiking in the beautiful deserts and mountains nearby or just relaxing by the pool to escape the summer heat.
